Strategic relationship offers Titanium
developers OneTok Module; the ability to add voice controls to mobile apps quickly, easily and affordably
NEW YORK – Oct. 22, 2012 – OneTok and Appcelerator intend to change the way millions of people worldwide navigate through their mobile applications by offering developers a quick, easy and affordable way to add voice controls to their applications.
The companies today announced that Appcelerator, the world’s leading mobile applications development company, will offer the OneTok Module to their Titanium Developers in order to voice-enable consumer and enterprise mobile applications built on Appcelerator Titanium. The new OneTok Module for Titanium is immediately available in the Appcelerator Open Mobile Marketplace.
The new OneTok Titanium Module gives mobile developers the ability to easily add voice controls to their existing apps and the flexibility of offering voice controls as an option when creating new applications. Instead of tapping a screen several times to get through an application, voice control lets people use simple voice commands to tell their music app to “Play Avril Lavigne” or ask their movie app to “buy two tickets to Taken2 or Skyfall tonight at 8 PM near my house.” Developers simply create words and phrases and add a few lines of code.
“Voice offers a highly intuitive method of interacting with information, applications and features offered on mobile devices. Businesses and consumers already understand the benefits of voice interaction, especially with Apple’s introduction of Siri on the iPhone” said Spencer Chen, head of business development for Appcelerator “Companies that voice-enable their mobile applications see a higher level of utilization and knowledge sharing while consumers gain the enormous benefits of a much more natural integration of their mobile experience.”
While other voice-control systems require expensive and time-consuming customization, the OneTok Module lets developers add words and relevant phrases to invoke any activity in their apps -- all with just a few clicks. Now, instead of jabbing at buttons while driving or typing in a destination, smartphone and tablet users can use their natural voices to activate, control and navigate through apps, enter logins, or initiate web searches. For example, developers can access or build a vocabulary of most used commands in a financial application to ensure the user receives fast and accurate access to his or her financial information.
“With more than 350,000 registered developers and 50,000 applications published by world-class brands and enterprises that are already building mobile applications on Titanium, Appcelerator continues to build one of the largest and most productive ecosystems of mobile-application development,” said OneTok CEO Ben Lilienthal. “We add-value to the ecosystem by providing Titanium developers with the ability to go beyond what Siri offers and add application specific voice capabilities into their apps in a few weeks. Our Appcelerator relationship will help developers to implement voice functionality as a quick and convenient way for consumers to interact with brands and employees to interact with enterprise apps.”
