London, 25 February 2010 – Truphone has announced the immediate availability of its popular, easy-to-use Truphone application for four additional Nokia handsets, bringing the number of Truphone-compatible Nokia handsets to 30*.
The updated application will allow a greater number of Nokia owners to ring up significant savings by taking advantage of Truphone’s broad range of calling plans and services. This includes free calls between Truphone users when both parties are in Wi-Fi and low international rate calling when outside of Wi-Fi.
Truphone has also updated its application for the Nokia N86 with the introduction of a complete VoIP engine, now allowing owners of those Smartphones to place and receive calls when in Wi-Fi range.
“Truphone’s legacy began on a Nokia device and we have continued to develop and improve our applications for our loyal Nokia customer base,” said Truphone founder and CTO James Tagg. “The new devices include the E52, E55, E72, and the E75– and the addition of Wi-Fi calling to the N86. Now a greater number of Smartphone users can take advantage of our low-cost calling rates to keep in touch with their friends, family and colleagues wherever they may be around the globe.”
With the addition of the four new handsets, Truphone is now compatible on 30* Nokia devices. The new version is immediately available as an SMS over-the-air (OTA) download, from the Truphone web site, www.truphone.com and will be available in the near future from the Nokia Ovi store.
The new Truphone-enabled Nokia devices include:
After downloading and installing the Truphone application to their handsets, Nokia device owners will have the ability to take advantage of two calling options:
· Truphone Wi-Fi calling: Calls to other Truphone users can be made or received for free when both parties are in Wi-Fi. When the Truphone caller is Wi-Fi and the receiver is out of Wi-Fi on a mobile or a landline, calls can be made at Truphone’s low calling rates.
Anywhere: Designed for international calls made when customers are connected to
their home country mobile networks. These calls are local calls which are routed
over the Truphone network to their destination landline and mobile phones
worldwide at Truphone’s low rates. This service is intended for use in the
user’s home country as savings cannot be guaranteed abroad.
Users of Truphone on these Nokias will also receive their own local phone numbers that can be dialled directly, with the calls either received over Wi-Fi or forwarded by Truphone to the phones’ GSM numbers.
